What I found

Connie, played by Dawnface, was spending the night at Steven's house. Sometime during the night they were going through Steven's backpack and he pulled out two gems from the tomato pocket. He'd completely forgotten about them! Curious, Connie asked where he got them and so they sat on the floor while Steven went on to tell her the grand adventure he had been on with Pearl several weeks prior.

The two had been on a solo mission, scouting a temple of sorts. Pearl had found the place and wanted to share it with Steven first. She had never been there before, herself. It was a beautiful place. A huge, ageless tree, was atop the temple, so covered in vines that, had there not been a door, it would have been hard to tell there was even a building.

Pearl was careful with Steven, making sure he stayed close while they entered the temple to explore. The details were sketchy, Steven couldn't remember much of it anymore, but he did remember when they entered the small room in the center of the temple. It was dark, the only lights were from a few glowing crystals on the walls. And there, in the center of the room, were a series of pedestals.

Upon the pedestals were several gem-shaped holes where it looked like gems could be placed, or had been placed previously. One of the pedestals was completely blank. The others all had the empty holes except one that had 5 gem-shaped slots, and two of them were in use. Two gems, a blue and a green.

He didn't remember what Pearl was doing, but he remembered he had stared at the gems for quite a long time in thought. Why were they there? What was their story? What even was this place? Pearl had warned him not to touch anything but it was really tempting.

Steven had reached for one, the blue one, almost to touch it, however before he could, suddenly the lights turned red. Pearl had done something, he didn't know what, but whatever it was the temple suddenly started to fall apart. It was caving in! In a state of panic, Steven did the first thing he could think of and grabbed the two gems in each hand and pried them off of the pedestal.

It had been hard, they were stuck in there good, but Steven was more persistent than the stone that bound the gems in place. Plus, when Pearl ran over to pick him up and rush him to safety, the gems finally popped out!

They almost hadn't made it out, but once outside, Pearl set Steven down and stopped to watch as the temple crumbled down under the weight of the tree. Before their eyes the temple disappeared completely, replaced by the ageless tree.

During that time, Steven slipped the gems into his backpack and they've been there ever since.

After the story had been said, Connie then asked Steven if he was going to tell them about the gems now that he remembered he had them. "No." was the answer he gave. "I think they might be stuck in their gemstates. I want to help them."
